The Government Hospital for Children is an Associated Hospital of Government Medical College Srinagar providing specialist care for all children up to the age of 15 years. It provides exclusive care to children in the Field of Medicine, Prevention and Treatment of Communicable diseases, Inpatient and Out Patient care free of cost and also Free and Subsidized Immunization according to WHO Standards and Protocols. the bed strength of the Hospital is 175, however the actual occupancy of the hospital at any given point of time is significantly higher. The Hospital also provides Medical Education to the Undergraduate Students of Government Medical College Srinagar as well as the Post Graduate Students admitted every year.

Specialist Services
Out patient department working 6 days a week free of cost to patients. Casualty dealing with all kinds of Emergencies working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Dispensary providing Medicines to all admitted (In Door) patients free of cost. Radio-diagnostic services (X-rays, Ultrasonography) done at very cheap and subsidized rates for out patients and free for Indoor patients. Immunization as according to Universal Immunization Programme of 1990 providing Vaccines against the 6 big communicable killer diseases of Children. Neonatology care: Care for the new born up to the 28t day of life is provided in the hospitals, consisting of Warm care using state of the art incubators and warmers.
