The Government Chest Disease Hospital Srinagar caters exclusively to Patients with various Disorders of Chest Medicine. It also acts as a Medicine Dispensing center for Tuberculosis patients and patients suffering from other disorders like COPD which are quite prevalent in the cold climate of Kashmir.

The Chest Disease Hospital also serves as a center for Undergraduate Students of Government Medical College Srinagar who have to attend a Compulsory 2 week posting there. Similarly Students undergoing their Internship in Government Medical College Srinagar also have to undertake a compulsory 2 week training programme in the said hospital.
